We spent two weeks blasting through the Northern Rivers over Christmas, riding in brutal 40°C heat, and the Merlin Taos jacket and pants combo absolutely delivered! We were blown away by how well this gear performed.
First off—don’t be put off by the colour. Yeah, it’s black, but black does not always mean hotter. The airflow in this setup is insane. We were cruising through the heat and staying cooler in full gear than we were in just a T-shirt and shorts. The mesh panels are next-level, letting a constant flow of air through, even when you’re at the lights. Merlin should be shouting about this from the rooftops because this is easily some of the best hot-weather gear we’ve ever worn.
Protection? Sorted. CE-rated D3O® armor in the shoulders, elbows, back, and knees, so you’re fully covered if things go sideways. The pants have space for optional hip armor too, but honestly, they’re so comfortable you forget you’re wearing full gear.
The fit is spot on—flexible, comfortable, and adjustable in all the right places. The jacket sits well, the pants move with you, and nothing feels stiff or bulky. Plus, there are plenty of pockets for whatever you need to stash.
Honestly, if you ride in the heat, you need this setup. Forget sweating it out or risking it in a T-shirt—Merlin Taos is the way to go.
